Antique Japanese Edo period 1600-1868, Samurai war hat Nirayama Jingasa kabuto made of finely hand-woven bamboo fiber with black lacquered exterior, adorned on each side with gold lacquer urushi samurai Nobility family crest -moon. The interior lacquered with red urushi.
CONDITION: Showing age and usage, signs of wear from time and long usage, some lacquer loss around the edges and minor crazing to the lacquer finish but remains in very good condition considering its age, still flexible.
A photograph is posted with this listing which shows a samurai wearing this style of hat in the Edo period.
